2008 Pet Parade

GRAND PRIZE WINNER – “A Day at the Races” was the Grand Prize Winner. The Laurin family, Marc, Susan and Danielle, marched with  three hens in a cage and a Sheltie named Rosie with a chicken strapped to her back and a sign that read, “Is that another chicken joke?” Danielle raised the chickens from 3-day-old chicks. The Laurins live in Burlingame.

 

MOST ORIGINAL FLOAT OR WAGON – “Dr. Who,” a takeoff on the British TV show entered by the Reeve family of Burlingame. Millie and Georgina Reeve were dressed as robots, while Charlotte Reeve and Kylie Balich, also of Burlingame, were costumed as cybermen. Sooty, a 1-1/2-year-old Cockapoo was K-9

BEST DRESSED PET – Newfie, a black Newfoundland, age 1-1/2, was “Fallen Angel.” She wore black angel wings and hot pink bows on her head. Her thick black coat was decorated with pink highlights. Her owner is Augustina Perrando of San Bruno.

BEST GROUP – ”Surfer Dudes,” a group dressed in Hawaiian costumes, representing the swim aerobics class offered by Muffie Calbreath of Burlingame through the Burlingame Recreation Center. Marching with Muffie were Will Graczewski, age 5; Barbara Anderson; Felicia Stacker, Luis Stacker, age 11; Linda Burns; and Anna, Claudio and Ann Catena. Dogs in the group were Bella, a Chihuahua /Shih Tzu; Bello, a Pomeranian; Cody-Fox, a Pomeranian/Sheltie; Bailey, a mixed Poodle; and Toby, a Collie.

BEST DRESSED OWNER/PET COMBO – The Rubenstein family of Hillsborough’s entry, “Snow White and the Wizard,” featured Lily, age 5, dressed as Snow White; Ben, age 8, dressed as a wizard; Lisa; and Willow, a 2-1/2-year-old Labradoodle in a jean outfit.

The Burlingame Pet Parade was started in 2004 by a group of volunteers to promote community spirit. It is entirely supported by volunteers and community donations.
